February 2, 2024 - It is really nice to see how these wines have stood up to some aging and that the alcohol does burn off to reveal some nice evolution.
January 8, 2024 - Excellent stuff. Everything I like in cool climate Syrah and showing no signs of being over the hill.
April 23, 2023 - Way better than my previous one however, they gotta go.....reached its peak.....
December 25, 2022 - Past its peak unfortunately. Nail polish and tertiary aromas….3 more bottles to go…😩
June 2, 2022 - It has been nine years since my last bottle. This has improved, as the searing tannins of its youth have substantially mellowed and this has become more a harmonious wine. The fruit has not faded and this remains quite spry. These appellation Syrahs seem to age very well.
January 25, 2022 - Pretty good, agree with mkribar
January 19, 2022 - Really really good right now.
April 19, 2021 - Very perfumed nose. Violet, stemmy? Some meatiness. Definitely an umami/savouriness with some violets/dark fruits. Medium tannin still but silky—on its way to resolving. Nice acid, the wine cane across as balanced. More meaty/savoury on the palate, but rosehip, violet, and blackberries as well. Very nice, probably at peak.
March 20, 2021 - Decanted and showing light to moderate sediment.
Dark garnet. Aromas in the glass show layers of dried violets, sous bois, aged meats, old leather, grill smoke, black olive, pepper, baking spices, dried herbs, earth and fruit characteristics of black plum, slightly dried blackberry, and dried blueberry.
On the palate this wine shows a very smooth entry and textured mouthfeel that follows through with juicy acidity and slightly chewy tannins that have softened over time. Flavors follow through from the nose with a more sauvage streak; wild-dried herbs, earth, sous bois, jerky, dried violets, tobacco, leather, pepper, olive, smoke and cinnamon before revealing dried blueberry, plum and blackberry notes.
Nice evolution here.
February 21, 2021 - Cork was dry and crumbled. Wine smelled of sour milk.
