January 25, 2022 - Last of 3 bottles. Black/red color. Dried cherry, tobacco, red currants and green pepper on nose. Medium body, medium+ acidity and fine tannins - flavor consistent with nose. Nice, precise wine. 92-93 range. Would buy more recent vinttages - has aged very well.
May 10, 2020 - Dark color. Smoky, peppery nose, with cassis, leather, licorice. Quite powerful and plenty of tannins, good structure. Medium length. Ready to drink but no hurry.
March 18, 2020 - A classic old-school Italian cab. Prominent earth tones, coffee, currant, cedar, graphite with subtle anise and a spicy finish. Intriguing wine with plenty of life left in it.

October 6, 2019 - Decanted for 1.5 hours and paired with grilled Ribeye on the bone.
Black in the glass. Rosemary, herbs, black currants and sweet cherry on the nose. On palate, cassis, black currants, tobacco and herbs. Medium tannins, high acidity and very long finish. This was noticeably better with food. This wine will age very well and it has improved since my last tasting 2 years ago. This needs a decant so a pop & pour without food is not the way to go at this stage of this wine's evolution. 93
Will buy some more recent vintages to age.
July 6, 2018 - Dinner at Tim's (Chicago, IL): Clearly a nose that is cabernet, with its pencil shavings and green peppers and all that. There's a light herbal element that adds interest. Unfortunately, the palate doesn't live up to the promise, and it feels somewhat empty on the midpalate, with a slight bit of alcohol on the back end. There's a bit of bitterness here as well that I'm not fond of either.
February 17, 2018 - Average at best on first taste. We will see how it does over the next hour or day.
July 22, 2017 - Decanted for 4 hours and paired with NY strips.
Dark black color with some sediment. Herbs, blackberry, dried cherry & tobacco on nose. On palate, medium body, high acidity, dark black fruits (currants / blackberry) that was fresher than the nose suggested. Medium+ tannins and very long finish. Was better on night 2. 91+ today and +1-2 points with some age. Better with food than without.
December 28, 2015 - young and still pretty tight. good cab notes in an Italian styled wine
