October 14, 2022 - Wines of the Gods (House of AC and JC): Component of DRC Echezeaux and Grands Echezeaux vertical. Medium ruby with subtle herb cherries on nose. Savoury Chelan cherries on medium palate, much denser than the Echezeaux, with a slightly bitter, smoky finish. Would probably drink this sooner than later due to the vintage. Best 2026-2036.

April 19, 2022 - This is shaping up to be a beautiful wine best of the 3 bottles I had the pleasure of drinking over the last 3 years. This had a ravishing nose that kept on giving through the drinking window and a consistent and structured palate. Drank next to a 09 JFM Musigny that was still quite tight but finished strong and a weak but savoury 01 Rousseau chambertin that never really blossomed. This was the overall WOTN

July 18, 2021 - Jeremy Holmes wrote about the notes of "decaying rose" in this wine and that is about all I got from it. Not even DRC could save this wine in this vintage. Please don't spend $3000 for this on the grey market. You can do much better. Zombies might like the decaying notes. People, not so much.

May 9, 2021 - Beautiful floral nose similar to the 04 Echezeaux. On the palate it’s starting to drink but with a lot more structure and density characteristic of a grands echezeaux. The Echezeaux is way more approachable and ethereal at this stage. Happy to wait 5-10 more years to drink the next bottle. Will likely integrate and get only better. 94-96 potential.

Prachtige balans. Algemeen / potentieel: Buitengewoon indrukwekkende wijn! 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Smaak / Afdronk: 19 + Algemeen / potentieel: 9 = 97/100
Color: Velvety light ruby red with a broad orange-brown edge. Aroma / bouquet: After a few hours of aeration: Wow, rarely a more dusty and intense bouquet found with an 'matured' Pinot Noir. Wild strawberries, marzipan, cedar and liquorice. Taste / Finish: My cellar contains little red Burgundy and little Pinot Noir, and for a reason. But once in a while there is a wine that makes me doubt ;-). In my tasting note of 25-12-2015 I wrote 'a punch with a velvet glove', that description still applies. Refined soft acidity, beautifully aged tannins, a pleasant 'bite' and an impressively long finish. Beautiful balance. Overall / Potential: Extraordinarily impressive wine! 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 14 + Taste / Finish: 19 + Overall / potential: 9 = 97/100

4/1/2007 (link)(Romanée-Conti Grands-Echézeaux) Yield 25.5 hl/ha - or 882 cases. Medium colour. The nose has a little more wood and stem 'smoke', faint vanilla at the base and just a little more width than the Echézeaux. Eventually the nose shows truffly notes and asian spice - more cohesion but I miss a fruit dimension, plus a little cedar is now appearing - 25 minutes finally gives us a little cherry! The nose seems much more primary than from barrel. The palate shows the elegance that I remember though the acidity seems just a little brighter with a trace of cedar on the mid-palate. Like the Echézeaux, there are no fireworks, rather understated length. This was my 'amour' from barrel - from bottle it seems merely 'pretty' rather than beguiling.
