March 2, 2020 - Concentrated and luscious. A new twist in every sip.

December 11, 2018 - Inviting nose of sweet red fruits, flora and black earth. It is only moderate of weight but impeccably balanced. There are cherry fruits and the finish is akin to sucking on a cherry stone. A delicious drink.

June 29, 2018 - Musique & Vin Festival BYO Dinner (Château de Meursault): Small glass, brief note. Fun red fruit with even better spice. Moderate weight for DRC, good length. Lots of pleasure now.

November 20, 2017 - Wedding reception wine. Needless to say notes were not taken, only impressions. This was light on the palate but very complex and prvoked images of the terroir when we visited Burgundy. Fruit still balanced and enticing. I guess my main point is that the difference between this wine and others that sets it apart is the complexity and perfect balance with all the parts showing their best.

The mistake was not having the banquet captain open it sooner. It only had about 1 hour to open and it continued to improve throughout the reception.

Wanted to add one additional note. What also separates this wine is the absolute uniqueness that was memorable as different from any other wine we have ever had. So unique it was captivating as words could not be found to truly represent the sensations.

Burgundy-Report

(Romanée-Conti Romanée Saint-Vivant) Yield 28.3 hl/ha - or 1,229 cases. Medium colour. The nose starts more generous and savoury that the last wines but then closes up. Some notes of cedar and berries are slowly released as the nose widens again, becoming smoky and filling the glass again with creamy, spicy and more fruit driven notes. The palate is more masculine and tannic but shows sweet fruit and a more concentrated length. It's less elegant for sure but has more power and will surely gain balance with time. This is a much bigger step up from the Grands-Echézeaux than at the barrel tasting.
