June 27, 2019 - Not near the end of its life this shows strong cherry fruit, leather, bacon fat, earth and spice. It is a complete package delivered at the top of its game.

January 30, 2019 - shared with pat at selkirk manor. we have enjoyed wine from this producer since 1973. last tasted the 2006 in february of 2018. reviewers say that the cerro anon is intended by the producer to be lighter in style although there have been vintages that are the exception to that rule. this vintage appears to be in the middle of that range. tonight's bottle showed very well. as good as or slightly better than last time. the wine continues to show less sweetness and more substantial mouth feel than the bottle tasted eleven months ago, suggesting that this wine may continue to evolve a bit longer. still taste the cherry notes. all, in all, a better than average rioja. will wait six months before enjoying our last bottle.

January 29, 2019 - lots of depth, layers of flavor and earthiness.

December 23, 2018 - This bottle was really singing and had less of the overbearing oak that I remember from my last bottle. I drink a lot of traditional Rioja and this is every bit as good as and in the same vein as La Rioja Alta’s 904 or 890. A ridiculous bargain from a relatively unknown producer.

August 14, 2018 - This is drinking much better with the additional bottle time. Deep, complex layers of leather, forest floor, tobacco. The fruit is subdued but still ample.

(Bodegas Olarra Rioja Cerro Anon Reserva) Saturated very dark ruby color; appealing, refined, cherry cordial, tart blackberry, vanilla, black raspberry nose; tight, creamy textured, youthful, cherry cordial, ripe blackberry, vanilla, black raspberry palate with lowish acidity; needs 5-6 years and should go 10+; medium-plus finish (14.5% alcohol; ripe, modern style of Rioja that's a great value at about $12) 91+ points
