January 11, 2022 - The second bottle of this and its perfect. There is tannins but it’s small and well integrated. Still fruity and in a perfect phase. Could ask for a little more acidity and a longer aftertaste but for this price it’s amazing. Mencia is really nice at ten years of age.

May 20, 2021 - It's been two years since I tasted a bottle of this, and it's still holding up well. Dark ruby to the eye, it's always been quite dense. Excellent nose, with black fruit and despite aging in steel, one would swear it was aged in oak, from the nose. Palate is still excellent, fruit still strong, tannins velvety soft now - and a long finish. At this point, residual sugar is a little more apparent than in earlier tastings, but this bottle was very enjoyable. I have a soft spot for mencia, and I continue to be rewarded for going long in the cellar.

September 30, 2020 - Mature Mencia. Earthy dark fruit with leather and cedar tertiary notes. Interesting to see how Mencia can age. A highlight of my Bierzo dinner.

May 12, 2019 - Chocolate and blueberries. Tannins had some presence, but they were sweet tannins. Mouth coating body, long finish. Very enjoyable, very unique.

Community Recommendations

Drank with ham and aspergas omlettes (left over easter ham). Not the best combination but it still worked.
