February 11, 2020 - By the glass at Les 110 de Taillevent, London. 70ml Coravin.
This albeit young and on the fruit side still ( still very young at 10yrs old) was still a very pretty wine with a lovely nose and so elegant on the palate. Well banlanced, touch of an oaky style of course as Guigal does but very well managed and stylish. Solid 92 for now and with decades more in the tank especially if like us one loves the more mature phase of these wines. We recently tried the humble 1990 Brune and Blonde from Guigal and it was excellent 93!.

November 29, 2019 - 2009 and 2010 Côte-Rôtie tasting (Magnum Society, Wellington, New Zealand): Good young-looking, vivid ruby. Notes of cassis, plums, black currants, black cherries, Christmas cake spices and dark florals. In the mouth, broad, rich and very powerful. The impression of lesser acidity after the Jamets. Serious structure. Initially difficult to read, not giving much. Ultimately I concluded the 2010 Guigal was the most primary and closed wine of the set. Quite monumental and large scaled. A long, dry finish. To me, a very impressive wine that needs, ideally, another 10+ years cellar time.

Group: Bronze 0 Silver 7 Gold 22 WoTN 8. My rating: Gold

November 28, 2019 - Tart red fruit, definitely some pepper. Still some tannins.

November 13, 2019 - Consistent with 2017 note. Reminiscent of Burgundy upon opening, lots of acid and bright fruit. Fruit turns dsrker and herbs come out with food. Served with leftover seared duck breast and mushroom grits. (Came up with this on a whim on a Wednesday night. Cook your grits with Better than Bouillon Mushroom base, and stir in leftover sauteed mushrooms the last 5 minutes or so.)
