December 15, 2018 - Drank with Wallworks and williams
May 5, 2018 - midweek wine. neither here nor there. tasting from a magnum
October 25, 2017 - More of an Aussie style than I recall in past vintages and less of the chocolate. Got a lot of nutmeg and cloves out of the glass initially. Some coffee bitterness, dark fruits, lingering finish. I would guess a couple of years at least left in the drinking window.
October 13, 2017 - Missing the chocolate
April 1, 2017 - Very good QPR though it has faded a little. Drink up.
December 27, 2016 - This wine was a bit of a mystery. By itself, without food, I thought it was nicely polished with dark fruit, chocolate notes, and a touch of Christmas spice (though with hints of that annoying South African BBQ potato chip taste still). This Syrah based blend reminded me of Washington St. Syrah because it had nice fruit without some of the annoying animal characteristics that I find in many other Syrahs. With dinner (pork roast and roasted vegetables), this wine was thin, the acid dominated, and the fruit fell into the background. I generally think that wines that can’t stand up to food are less interesting even though this wine probably worth its $25 price. However, it doesn’t make me think that I should go out and buy lots of South African wines.
July 4, 2016 - Nice smooth blend that never fails to disappoint. Not much chocolate in this year but big, fruity overtones with mellow tannins. Definitely ready to drink.
June 21, 2016 - Excellent. Smooth. Bold
