Community Tasting Notes 6

September 20, 2015 - Brown-toned fruit, christmas spices, licorice and tobacco notes. Big and muscular old-school Chateauneuf. A bit dry from the tannins. Excellent match with my lamb. Will live on. At home with Christian.

December 18, 2014 - Color doesn't show any signs of development. It's bloody red with no browning. Yeasty on the nose with some woody notes. There's some fruit on the mid-palate along with an herbal trace. It doesn't feel heavy. There's just the right amount of extract so it doesn't feel heavy. It finishes very dry, dusty and longer than expected. This is almost twenty years old and still needs time. Craziness! 87PTS

January 25, 2013 - Took 3 hours to fully open up to old-school Chateauneuf in the masculine style with a profile of licorice, figs, dark red fruit and spices. Lots of farmyard on the nose that slowly dissipates. Even if Mourre du Tendre produces big scaled wines I like them a lot but patience is key. This one will easily last another 5 years. There is plenty of fruit to deal with the remaining tannins.

December 24, 2011 - Promising, purple color. Nose of licorice and game and....eh cardboard. Corked. Too bad - all the underlying material is there.
