February 12, 2017 - Past its prime? Spicy, red fruit and white pepper, with tannins that are quite soft, almost mellow. Decent with food but not overly exciting.

September 1, 2014 - Great with a well seasoned steak and pasta with garlic and oil on the patio.
Drank tonight after the pleasure of a Larkmead Syrah 2008 last night. The Larkmead was a hedonistic treat to be remembered, but the Boom Boom gave great pleasure paired with the food tonight, and if I had spent on 1 bottle at a restaurant what the case of Boom Boom cost I would not have felt cheated!

December 30, 2013 - Young and vibrant color - deep ruby purple. Aromas of violets, white peper / fragrant spice, sweet dark fruit. Medium density - fresh character with abundant red and dark fruit, mild tannins and acidity, hint of eraser rubber (not bad) and herbaceousness. Feminine in character and easy drinking.

November 18, 2013 - Spicy bouquet and palate. Juicy fruits, good freshness and also a touch of sweetness. A bit rustic as well. Overall a well made and nice wine. Ready now and the next 4+ years.

October 3, 2013 - Dark in glass; dark fruit aromas with hints of tar. Softish tannins and pleasant fruit. Attractive but not as aggressive as label would have you believe

June 9, 2013 - Big, soft, berryish (raspberries?) Not much tannin, and very little acidity: that seems the defining feature to me. Some people, and some parts of the world, no doubt like the low-acid style; I find it wooly and diffuse. Wish I;d thought to put it in the fridge for half an hour: I reckon a bit of a chill would give it some focus.

May 17, 2013 - Fruity, floral and a little spicy. A little hint of alcohol heat. A simple wine with a little charm, but not really my cup of tea. I'd rather have this with food then on it's own.

April 2, 2013 - A lot of dusty earth and chalk on the nose alongside berries and dried herbs. The mustiness of the nose is what stands out most; part of me wants to identify the scent as "toasted" (though exactly what is toasted is hard to tell). I also want to say resinous or piney. In that sense, it's a perfect Washington wine because it makes me think of fir trees and forests. The attack feels clean and surprisingly light; this wine saves most of its punch for the mid-palate. Despite the nose, there's nothing resinous about the palate. Again, it's light but not exceedingly so with a respectable tannin structure. Cherry is the dominant note, but it doesn't overpower, and the earthy quality of the nose rounds out the palate nicely. The finish sticks around for a good run and the wine goes down smoothly. Not quite gulpable but easy to finish off nonetheless. I want to drink this with well seasoned chicken thighs and herbed, roasted potatoes along with some roasted vegetable with a fair amount of garlic and shallot. Nothing too heavy but something with enough substance to it to meet the wine half-way. A nicely seasoned burger and fries combo wouldn't be injured by adding this wine to the mix either; herbs seem to be the key as I think they would play well with the nose and mid-palate. This isn't a truly stellar Syrah, but, especially for the money, it is what I'd call a work-horse wine. A dependable, solid wine that's just complex enough to satisfy a savvy guest without stealing the show.

March 31, 2013 - Light floral nose. Pure strawberry fruit with peppery finish. Tastes more like Grenache than Syrah to me. Light to medium body. Nice on its own as an aperitif.
