  August 31, 2018 - Another solid edition with its savoury, black cherry jam and poultry spice nose with coffee, liquorice, cedar, vanilla aromas with a hint of barnyard and leather. Ripe, round and supple with good finesse there is a wealth of black cherry jam, roasted mushroom, tobacco, savoury, pepper, liquorice, vanilla and sage flavours. Very smooth and well balanced.

  November 10, 2013 - 3 hr . Decant. Cherry & vegetables on the nose. Still a lot of alcohol. May have opened too soon. Heavy palate. Cherry, red fruits, plum coated with a bitter note towards the finish. Tannins present and not fully integrated. Lengthy finish. I like it but not as much as Susana Balbo.

  January 2, 2013 - 2013 Argentina Trip; 12/30/2012-1/14/2013 (Buenos Aires/Córdoba): Initially this was like a turbo-charged Northern Rhone - potent aromas of black olive and dark berry fruit but overly alcoholic: we chilled the bottle for 20 mins to make it more palatable. But, returning to it two days later, the beast had been tamed. There was depth, power and persistence but also balance and the heat had completely disappeared. Visually there are signs of maturity but this is still a young, concentrated wine with layers of soft, velvety tannin and a decent amount of acidity. As well as black olive there are iodine notes and the mostly savoury palate has some sweet dark fruit and dark chocolate around the edges. A gorgeous wine that should continue to age well. Chill slightly and/or decant if drinking now.
