March 23, 2024 - Celebrating Again! (Ngaio, Wellington, New Zealand): Very developed in style - deep gold colour, rich toffee apple nose. The palate is huge but slightly tired. It is massive (15%) and yet stll retains generous residual sugar! The effect is one of richness and opulence, but for me, the acids just do not match the extract, sugar, or alcohol. There is absolutely a touch of alcoholic heat on the back palate. It is an amazing wine even now, but I would have liked to drink this ten years ago. Even so, a privilege to drink, and a unique wine that demonstrates the range of expression that Riesling can provide.

May 8, 2020 - Last bottle was almost a decade ago. This one is light and yet saturated and moderately long and pretty Alsatian smelly. All good, and the total is much better than the sum of the parts. The bitter grapefruit element is a fantastic addition.

Ps: for indice 3, not so sweet, maybe because it’s 18 years old.

April 3, 2020 - [Half bottle. Pop and pour.] Deep gold color. Intense nose of honey and cinnamon. Full body, intense flavor of orange peel and honey with a hint of brown sugar. Dry and intense on the finish.

October 7, 2019 - Intense aromas of honeyed citrus and orange slices. Touch of sweetness accompanies the wine’s viscosity (15% alcohol), but the wine is primarily dry and a very fine pairing with (in this case) a Spanish almond-saffron chicken dish. In the past it perfectly matched soup courses as well. Simply superb.

January 4, 2019 - I served this in my wine course. Nose of botrytis induced honey, baking spice, apricot jam. Mouth and finish are pleasantly dry by Zind standards, with long spicy finish. Very enjoyable.
