December 19, 2017 - Dark red, no bricking. Tar and cherries and some residual tannin. Still young

November 22, 2015 - Absolutely an example of the darker side of Barolo. The '99 Corino Rocche dell'Annunziata is coming from a time when new oak ruled the day. Dark red fruit aromas, as well as tobacco, cedar, exotic spice and minty-pine rose up from the glass. On the palate, ripe cherry with notes of licorice, spice and dark chocolate were kept firm by the wines structure, which is helping more than hurting on this night. The finish was fresh with pure ripe cherry fruit, sweet herbs and inner floral tones. Good? Yes, but I miss the Rocche signatures that are completely covered over by the new oak that was used here.

November 11, 2015 - A couple hour decant, minimum as the tannins, rustic, need this time to soften. Fruit/acid/tannin balance is ok with initial red licorice notes blending into a darker profile with some balsamic notes. Because this is still not very elegant and was somewhat tart at the beginning I don't see this developing into anything more than an ok wine.

March 6, 2010 - Dark brick, subtle nose of menthol, cherries, tar and violets, big banging palate of black fruits, plum, raisins and black cherry balanced by a perfect level of acidity, finish is sweet with mellow tannins and spicy red and black fruits, outstanding
