April 29, 2022 - So sad that this is my last bottle of this vintage. Is perhaps losing a bit of its luster, but it was a good run!

September 24, 2020 - Just when I thought the Encantado (aka Pine Ridge) couldn't get any better, it once again surpassed my expectations. Ruby hue; cedar, stewed carrots and black fruit in the nose; delicious, luscious blueberry compote, notes of roasted blackberries, cassis, sandalwood. Soft tannins presage a long lingering aftertaste, very pleasurable!

August 9, 2017 - PnP: dark garnet color, deep cedar forest with stewed strawberry notes, perhaps even a hint of pineapple in the nose; strawberry and plum jam, very flavorful, lots of red fruit. Delicious! medium-long aftertaste.

July 30, 2015 - impressive transformation over the last few years. Starting to come into its own with a classic Napa blend vibe and plenty of pop. Still enough tannins not to hurry but those that have waited should be pleased. Dark with plenty of legs, great nose -- drinking well

November 4, 2013 - too soon to drink. firm tannins and really tight on the open. improved significantly from a decant, although i tried it slowly along the way. by about 3 hrs it was showing better. does seem a bit thin to me to expect a transformation into something terrific though. would expect improvement after a few years on its side

April 3, 2013 - Lots of fruit up front, followed by a long, slightly spicy finish. Medium tanins, some vanilla in the nose.

February 19, 2013 - Surprisingly enjoyable for so young a wine. Enormous quality for price.

January 22, 2013 - Deep garnet color; very little leg formation. Classic peppery Bordeaux nose with sharp spicy overtones. Meaty herbaceous palate, rounded tones of cedar pank over a strong black fruit, plum and a hint of pomegranate. Aftertaste is long and satisfying with pronounced vanilla notes and perhaps a whiff of cocoa. Tasted again 2 days later and it gave a very good accounting of itself. Well-balanced and still a bit tannic.

November 10, 2012 - Fruit foward but the wine tastes thin - needs more depth. Affirming my prior rating.
