Community Tasting Notes 20

September 28, 2023 - Unfortunately i waited to long to drink this and should of opened it a couple years ago. The fruit was minimal and the acid and tannins were non existent.

November 22, 2022 - Made by Randy Dunn of Dunn Vineyards. A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that spends 22 months in 100% French oak.
    Decanted off the moderate sediment.
Scented with notes of cassis, plum, muddled blackberry and dark cherry come with aromas of vanilla, toasted oak, spice, mixed florals and hints of leather, herbs, dark chocolate and Nicaraguan tobacco.
The palate shows firm structure with juicy acidity and firm chewy tannins that have integrated well into the wine. The wine retains a great core of fruit that shows notes of cassis, fresh picked blackberry, dark cherry and black plum that comingle with vanilla, baking chocolate, spice, cigar, herbs and sweet oak. The finish lingers with grip. This still takes a bit of air to open up and still has many years ahead of it.

November 6, 2020 - The thing that stands out is that it is still somewhat tannic. Bottle opened about an hour prior to drinking. Served with strip steaks.
Dark fruit (plum?) and some graphite. The finish is long. But it is a little one dimensional. I am not getting much in the mid palate or any secondary flavors. Maybe needs more time Still have some left and will have again tomorrow

August 29, 2020 - Method: blind; 65 degrees; Cab glass; not sure on decant, but I believe it was decanted

Look: deep ruby, slightly lighter at the edge; a lot of slow legs

Nose: bell pepper, prune, black cherry, graphite, mocha; less than average strength / not very expressive

Palate: black cherry, blackberry, soft graphite; long finish of leather, cedar, graphite, and charcoal; dry; full- body; high grippy tannins, tannins a bit higher in quality than average; medium+ acidity

Overall thoughts: Good concentration, good dark fruit flavors, and good body, but too much tannin at this point and not a lot of complexity on the attack and midpalate. This smoothed out a lot on day 2 but may have been even less complex. This is a very good wine, but probably still too youthful for me at this point. I can see there being some good upside to this wine.
