June 4, 2023 - Beast of a wine! Dark purple, almost Malbec black. Acid plus and structured. Some secondary flavors. Still quite tight. I would revisit this wine in 5 to 7 years to let it show its stuffing.

January 14, 2023 - Deep red color. Aromas of black cherry, licorice, black pepper and wood spices. Medium-bodied fruit in the mouth with very good depth and length and well-integrated tannins. Very fresh and supple on the palate. While delicious now, at very beginning of its peak drinking period.

May 16, 2022 - Has thrown tremendous amount of sediment. Austere with acid plus.I am just curious what this bottle will taste like in 20 years. Right now is just a solid dry wine without any charm.

December 12, 2020 - We’ve just been in the New-to-Us-House for 2 weeks and still living with contractors, so a lot of things are still out of place and yet-to-be-placed and still being unpacked resulting in wine notes being a low priority. Nevertheless, when L-M is poured, I take note. We decanted this for about an hour. Otherwise, the wine would have been monolithically tight. What came through a still very young wine was a touch of black olive, plum, caramel, and black cherry. The tannins still require more integration, but the wine is nonetheless approachable now. Some sediment. 14.7% alc. With assorted blue cheeses and smoked duck with French country loaf from Reunion. 12.12.20. Recommended.

October 15, 2020 - Crushed blackberry, pepper, tobacco, and baking spices on the nose, with minerally character and leather added in the mouth. Outstanding bottle. On the basis of this showing I’d wager that it will last another 10 years.

September 13, 2020 - On PnP, explosive black fruit leaps from the glass. With time in the glass, the black fruit mixes with a layer of savory meat and a coffee like finish. A lot of sediment.

December 17, 2019 - In a great place. Nose of black olive and black cherry. Same flavors on the palate, fruit balanced with pepper and secondary notes of leather. Medium plus body, tannins. Classic style. Drink now and over the next few years.

September 27, 2019 - In a good place now, turning secondary with good freshness to its dark fruit. Savory hints, though a little more sweetness from the fruit make this a very accessible Syrah. Could be had with or without food. Good for drinking now and over the next few years at least.

February 12, 2019 - Very intense and nothing about it suggests California. The nose is black cherry and cloves. The palate has black cherry, black olive, black pepper. Dark, brooding, and delicious.

January 18, 2019 - I was surprised to find this LM syrah in such fine form. Lots of blackberry dominated dark fruit, pepper, clove, and touch of cigar box. The tannins are there keeping it all in check. Still has a few years to go if you have any in the cellar.
Paired very well with a peppercorn rib eye.
