January 28, 2024 - Black fruit, licorice, complex flavors, tannins are a little harsh. Long finish. Hold a few more years.
January 2, 2024 - Past its finest days. An earlier core of currant and roasted herbs still lingers, but now enveloped in customary attributes of age -- prune, leather, butterscotch.
November 10, 2023 - Plum currant hint of dark cocoa. Elegant with tannins that grip slightly. Smooth and rich. Has evolved and is drinking beautifully now. Still many years left.
June 8, 2023 - Kathryn Hall Cabernet Vertical 2008-2020 presented by Kathryn Hall (Joe’s Seafood - Chicago): 97% Cabernet Sauvignon
2% Merlot
1% Petit Verdot
20m, 70% new French oak
Extremely polished, but also a little VA to salt it.
Light sediment.
Wonderfully harmonious aromas. Most complexity of the line-up so far. Modest tannin. Freshness. Fruit of the aromas, doesn’t entirely follow to the palate.
April 28, 2023 - Double decanted - but only for 1 hour. Deep currant and plum notes with an overlay of red fruit. In general, Consistent with notes of 8/17/2018 but even more fleshed out.
April 1, 2023 - Thick and rich but at or past prime
December 25, 2022 - Great wine. Still has good energy, but its around peak so no sense in holding anymore.
December 22, 2022 - Perfect
June 6, 2022 - This was out of a half bottle and probably at it's peak right now. It was elegant and rich, like a good whiskey. Still lots of fruit with notes of tobacco and pencil shavings. Not the most complex but just straight up enjoyable.
February 21, 2022 - A very enjoyable Cabernet. Nose was excellent, love the smell of a good Cab. Strong body with plenty of fruit.
