January 26, 2024 - Layered and round with good verve. Very nice but prefed the 89 and 98 for my taste tonight.

March 3, 2023 - I don't think this is a perfect bottle with perhaps too overt oxidation, but nice hue of Krug brioche flavors and bright. NR

October 12, 2022 - [Blind] Beautiful nose. Great state of maturity, developed but not advanced. Caramel and oxidative yellow apple fruit. Palate had loads of power and acidity. Tuning fork, precise, massive acid. Biscuit, coffee cream, cereal grain, wet cement. I guessed Krug "Collection" because of the state of arrested development on the palate relative to the comparatively more mature nose. Flavour country.

March 21, 2022 - high-complexity nose and high acidity, while the fruit is still present but has faded somewhat. Drink now.

January 6, 2022 - Wine Dinner w/new friends in JAX (Rue St Mark): Drank side by side with the 90 Collection and you can really tell the difference in cellar aging because this one tasted like it was much older. And very interesting because the Collection I'm assuming is much more PN and this is obviously all chard and yet some of the flavors I associate with PN I get more here - it's more nutty, definitely a bit oxidized, super complex, lots of layers to the champagne. It's yummy and yet there's something that holds me back from the 'wow' factor. Enjoyable to drink and fun to share with some new friends.

(Krug Clos du Mesnil, Champagne, France) Borrowing the allusion of the great Dom, this is one of the few wines that has made me “see stars.” It was during a private audience with the dynamic, memorable Rémi Krug that I first tasted this Champagne in 2006, while researching a feature on mono-crus. Maybe it was Rémi’s genuine and boundless enthusiasm that first brought me to this, but I have rarely before or since tasted as profound a wine. When I sampled it again one chilly and sunny March 2009 afternoon along the seafront in Brighton, England, the straw-yellow color from three years earlier hadn’t altered. A highly mineral and medium-full body, a firm acidity that still makes the tongue rise to attention, and an elegant and savory finish combine in a singular, harmonious wine experience. Though delicious, inspiring, and mind-blowing now, it’s tightly wound and should improve for decades. Sommelier's Choice: Top Releases of 2009
