January 21, 2022 - Tasted blind. Earthy and deeper pitched, I was guessing Corton. Tertiary notes of clay, medium bodied, not rustic but could benefit from a bit more fruit.

January 19, 2022 - Cherry, raspberry, hints of sous bois; fruitful, developed, intense, layered, long and well poised, with a somewhat aged and mature finish; excellent

January 18, 2022 - Reasonably dense ruby colour with only faintest hint of garnet/aging. Nose of red cherries, spices, hint of vanilla and perhaps a bit acidic. Still quite young, fresh, and primary, it’s pleasant but feels likes it needs a bit more time to really blossom. It’s on the palate that this shows it’s stripes, with a little more weight on the palate and concentration to justify its grand cru status. Fresh red and black cherries, raspberrys with a lovely acidic spine, and some cinnamon and spices. Tannins are there but well integrated. Delicious and well balanced, with especially noteworthy quality on the palate. Ready to go, but will also benefit from more aging too, especially in terms of developing the nose.

January 19, 2020 - Kelvin's wedding at Goodwood Park. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of red florals, dark red cherries, red spice, earth and minerals. Developing.
On the palate, dry, rounded high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of savoury ripe red cherries, red plums, spices, fresh earth, minerals. Emerging meat with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. I was guessing a Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru in a somewhat more elegant style. Probably a relatively young good vintage - 2010?
Turns out to be Charmes-Chambertin from the negociant biz of the Claude Dugat family. Overall intensity is more Premier than Grand Cru level, though this 2010 might just be young.
