July 25, 2017 - Tuesday Night Double Blind <$40 (Alpharetta, GA): Dark core, dull reddish violet rim; dried red and dark fruit, plum, prune, spicy, concrete dust, roses; harder tannin, juicy acid, black currant, plum, raspberry, felt this needed more time; called super-Piemontese like Luigi Einaudi.

August 12, 2016 - In very good condition at the moment, medium garnet with great lustre. Red fruits and coffee on the nose, a little meat and leather. But it is still very fresh. High in acid, pretty low in tannin and with a wonderful freshness of fruit with complexity and concentration of tertiary flavours - coffee, truffle, leather... but I think it could last another 3-5 years. I would drink from 2017...

April 21, 2016 - Peak drinking right now with no signs of being past its prime. Great balance of acidity, fruit and tannins. Very fresh and delicious. A steal at $23. Should have bought more.

May 21, 2015 - I was on a bourbon kick all winter and drank very little wine. This week, with the last of our cool spring weather, I decided to open a few bottles with some rustic Italian and am quite pleased to say they revived my passion for wine. This and the 2012 Sottimano Dolcetto d'Alba Bric del Salto are everything I want in a wine- tasty, great acidity with a long finish. I will be sorry when the summer forces rose and whites on me.

February 25, 2014 - Tuesday Night Double Blind <$30 (Bin 75): Dark core with medium+ extraction, bright garnet rim; nice floral nose, violets, plum, blackberries, juicy; fresh acidity, spice, cinnamon, some tannin, juicy berry, dark cherry fruit; delicious; give this a year or two because it is built to age, I'm looking forward to my '07!

January 18, 2014 - Italian Food & Wine (Bin 75): Dark rose violet; perfumed dark cherry, violets, very floral, vanilla- not from oak, leather underneath; layered, deep, dark cherry, cigar, red currant; this bottle is tighter and could use a few years under its belt.
