January 3, 2021 - Honey and straw notes are emerging on the nose while the colour is a lovely green gold. On the palate, a touch of green is likely due to the wet vintage but it remains substantially in the background. The palate is a soft waxy amalgam of honey, lemon and toast that is supported by an excellent soft acid finish. A wine that the Tyrrell’s team did very well with given the challenging wet vintage. Great with seafood.

December 20, 2017 - Whistlestop Hunter Tour 2 (Hunter Valley): Again rich, showing same Semillon tertiary characteristics as the Stevens but more herbaceous, juicy, slightly longer. Nice.

    November 13, 2017 - Multi award winner
    a beautifully balanced wine.
    Mineralisation on the nose
    A light lemon/lime fruit.
    A softer style of finish.
Nothing offensive here and will continue to improve and change in character over the next 5 years.
best served with food Asian definitely.Fish of course, dry biscuits and cheese .
A high class semillon unoaked of course to let the fruit shine through.

Footnote: i sent two bottles of this along with two bottles of the Tamburlaine Reserve 2013 to Guangzhou China with my wife ( yes they are lenient with wine as long as it's in two different suitcases).

She reported back that the wine and the food was gone in under an hour and they were screaming for more wine, but alas, this will cost them twice as much as you and I pay for this.
My suggestion was, they buy a plane ticket to Australia, I would take them to the vineyards every day (I only live 40 minutes away) they could drink as much as they liked for free buy what they liked and in return cook me Chinese cuisine every night for a month.

    4th November 2018.
    Still alive with drive .
Hasn't changed much since my first taste but is giving me the impression it needs another year to show it's best.

May 15, 2017 - vanilla, wax apple, a lick of match, peachy, nice sweet mouthfeel, none of that wet lettuce taste from the wet vintage, dry, good to go.

January 15, 2017 - Hunter Valley - 4 Cellar Doors (Hunter Valley): {screwcap, 11.5%, A$35} Tangy oaky aromas. The palate is well-developed, with browning sort of flavours, sandalwood. Medium-bodie, awith medium/high acidity, but there obviously wasn’t pristine fruit here to start with. Longish finish, but it’s not very seductive. Even the early-picked Semillon couldn’t escape all the wet 2012 vintage seemingly.
