Community Tasting Notes 4

September 24, 2014 - 13% alc; Deep, black to garnet edges. Savoury edged nose with classic Bordeaux cedar wood, and a lot of undergrowth (like being in a overgrown forest in Autumn). Tiny tight wild berry fruits of no specific description. Surprisingly smooth textured with pliant resolved tannins, medium acidity and flavours of chunky chocolate bar, tar, tilled soil, graphite. Approachable, perhaps a little drying (cork wasn't great), lacking refinement and a bit foursquare. Solidly made with medium length and hint of smoke/green bell pepper/sap on the finish.

July 22, 2011 - Medium body, cedar notes, didn't last long. Delicious with the prime NY strip steak I grilled in the back yard for dinner.

September 14, 2009 - Deep purple in color, floral aromatics, spice and leather on the palate but somewhat short on the finish. However, nice paring with filet mignon. First glass was better than the second.

October 11, 2008 - Much more expressive after 24 hours open. Lovely classic claret.
