November 3, 2018 - this is a very good bottle of wine. it shows well with some air and some chill on it. bordeaux nuances are here. long finish with coffee cedar and tobacco notes. dang good slightly bitter acid profile too. loves food.

January 9, 2012 - Better than the last bottle. Scents of crisp red apple blend with mature red fruit with a slight undertone of cranberry jelly. Barest hint of earthy, leathery funk. Light, medium bodied, fading but present fruit, nice, lightly spicy acidity. Finishes with savory notes and a very clear return to apple. Interesting.

March 19, 2011 - Near opague garnet, light nose of dark fruit that didn't open up much more over several hours or on the second day. Had the expected aged structure (mature fruit, lean acid spine, smooth, fully integrated tannins), but not much complexity. Short finish.

June 6, 2010 - Vini Rossi-L'Ultimo Piano (Asti Trattoria): An old school barbera, this was a surprisingly good wine for its dozen tasters. Ready nose, with an "amazing" and floral nose, the wine was dry with medium tannins, good acidity, and good balance. It finished short. Lots of noted flavors: dark and tart cherry, leather, dry fruit, cedar box, root beer, spice, earth, smoke, salami and meat. This wine was good enough that at the end of our salon a couple of tasters approached and wanted to know more about the wine: it was probably the cheapest wine we drank this day, I responded.
