HandmadeHomemade Does not like this wine:
January 24, 2019 - Drank over 3 days.
This wine did not do it for me. The wine pours a dark purple with a bit of an oily sheen to it. Aromas of wet coffee grounds, dried plums, oak, and heavy vanilla. The wine smells sweet. In the mouth, the wine is full bodied and simple. Syrupy in texture, flavors of raisins, prunes, and black cherries, with a ton of vanilla and oak on the finish. This seems to drink more like Caymus, and is comically over-oaked... Low fruit acid and tannin make this wine flabby and un-interesting, had with lamb, and struggled through a glass on the first night, the next night I had it with some string cheeses, it became more like an Amarone- which was strange. The third night was had with steak, which, I took one sip and promptly dumped the bottle.1 person found this helpful Comment -

July 23, 2017 - Notes of cassis, chocolate, spring flowers and light minerality make up the highlights of this entry level wine from Cliff Lede. Good complexity and great texture.

February 26, 2017 - Really vibrant and full of fruit. Was a bit astringent from still ample tannins. Probably drank this too soon but have been used to the claret being ready to drink earlier than the Lede Cabs. Medium bodied with a medium finish.

February 25, 2017 - Crimson colored. Quite fragrant. Cassis, blackberry, pencil lead, cigar box, vanilla, caramel. Medium-full body. Medium acidity. Moderate, juicy tannins. Medium-plus finish. Went really well with steak. Perhaps still not yet at peak, but I'd expect it to be there within 2 years.
