April 15, 2014 - Medium color — surprisingly not as dark as many '09 and '10 merlot-based Bordeaux. Intense new French oak nose that carries thru to the palate. Yet the oak does not mask the clear merlot flavors — a refreshing departure from many California Merlots that seem to have little merlot flavor at all. (That is, they simply taste like generic red wine.) Ready to drink now but should hold together for another 5 years if well cellared. Great for the price!

January 9, 2014 - Not a bad wine for the price. Cranberry, black cherry, and allspice on the palate. Blue fruit on the nose. The finish was medium-short. A good everyday wine.
