December 13, 2016 - Too much oak, and tad low on a idle for my taste. Well riped fruit and fair balance. Short length and mildly bitter finish.
April 19, 2015 - Fruity and soft. Very drinkable. Your quintessential generous California wine.
February 7, 2015 - Paired with smoked duck. Surprising weight and structure for a 6 year old syrah. Need to pick up a couple more bottles next time I'm over in Sonoma. Fantastic wine, decanted for an hour, but still think another 3 years would uncover its true potential.
December 14, 2014 - Very dark berry flavor. Good example of a big CA Syrah
June 28, 2014 - Big and Bold lots of Pepper on the palate with hints of Dark Berries.
February 25, 2014 - Very fruity and Lucius, but has a cooked plum and blueberry aroma that takes away from its freshness.
December 27, 2013 - Sadly I didn't take detailed notes while tasting this, several days ago. I do remember being impressed with the balance and elegance. More restrained in style than most Chalk Hill reds, even with 15.5% alcohol it felt lean, complex, and subtle. Entering its prime this year I think, but plenty of years left in it.
December 20, 2013 - Worked very well with baby Back ribs and sourdough bread.
July 27, 2013 - Deep ruby, stains the glass. Fresh fruity nose when first opened. Flavors of cassis and dried flowers-rose, oak. Bottle age begins to show with a little air. This wine is on the front side of ready to drink. Enjoy for several more years.
