January 3, 2015 - Holiday Dinner at Nathan's (Nathan's House - Chicago, IL): Thought this was lovely. Had a lot of that "old library book" smell going on that I really like. Despite the aged qualities on the nose, the palate was still dark, dense, and concentrated with very nice black cherries, cassis, smokey notes, and spice. Drinking in a great spot, and I think there's still a nice bit of life left on bottles that have been stored well.

March 25, 2013 - For my 45th birthday. Tannic & passed its prime but still good. Decanted 2 hours; will try rest of it tomorrow.

January 19, 2013 - Dark red with brick hues, holing its color very well. Cloudy with moderate plus viscosity.
Funky aromas of Peat and loam up front. Dried herbs, cocoa and currant aromas also present. Tobacco, espresso and a slight hint of smoke chime in with light wood notes.
The palate is still remarkably dense and dark, with currant, plum, dried cherry, coffee, herb, wood, and earth. Tannins moderate and still provide good grip. Long dry finish. Best of the vertical tasted from 84,85 & 86
