February 9, 2020 - Very moldy on the nose after initial decant. Cork held up very well After an hour, still moldy on the nose with a dirty vinegar on the palate. Left in decanter for another 2 hours. While nose improved slightly, flavor profile improved tremendously. Not as bold as expected at prime. Definitely on the back side of prime. Strongly suggest immediate consumption with lengthy decant.
April 19, 2016 - Excellent wine , still imperfect condition.
November 4, 2015 - Was expecting this to be OTT, but was surprised to find a well balanced, relatively understated Cali Cab. Nicely concentrated (but not over extracted or overly rich) tart black fruit, plenty of cigar box, a bit of dark chocolate, very good acidity, and a long, smooth finish. Probably at its peak.
July 7, 2015 - a Shame...waited to long for my last bottles. the wine has thinned out excessively,
May 14, 2012 - Awesome Wine! Ready to drink now, I would not wait any longer. Decanted it for about 45 minutes, I would not decant it for any longer then that.
February 28, 2012 - Still drinking well, lots of fruit. Smooth!
September 18, 2010 - Past its prime.
April 2, 2010 - This wine started out really wel integrated with mushrooms, cherries and forest floor. Started to fall apart after about an hour in the dencanter. If I had any in the cellar, I would drink it soon and as a starter.
February 26, 2010 - It was thrilling tasting the wine that got me into wine 10 years later. The edgy young vibrant fruit was gone, but what remained was familiar and delicious. Soft cloud-like tannins. Opqaue purple. Signature Cakebread flavors without any harshness. Like a rambunctious old friend who mellowed out and had time to sit down for a conversation. A very enjoyable experience.
December 3, 2009 - time to drink - enjoy
