June 23, 2019 - Last tasted just over a year ago, this has continued to move forward and is now firmly in its drinking window and displaying tertiary characteristics. It does still need a lot of aeration to show it at its best. This had 7 hours in the decanter, and sat in the glass for an hour prior to consumption. To date this is my right bank wine of the vintage, blowing away the Angelus and VCC, and probably the best showing wine I've tasted this year. It truly is magnificent, and is Pomerol at its absolute excellence with an opulent winegum nose of red cherry, blackcurrant and cedar, with a hint of mint. The last 12 months has seen the tannin further sweeten, but it still retains a good bite on the palate. The balance on the palate is worthy of a perfect score. Similarly the finish is exquisitely balanced and is nudging 60 seconds. I personally believe this still has further development ahead of it, but have no hesitation in having this now as it is pure hedonistic heaven.

April 22, 2019 - From a magnum. Enticing Pomerol nose of blue and black fruit, sweet spice and green pepper. The Cab Franc dominated on the palate, adding a nice bramble. Delicious with grilled steak, but the wine ultimately lacked complexity and there was a slightly bitter note on the finish.

December 30, 2018 - Right in the middle of its sweet spot for current drinking my wine of the year though I have drank some other fine wines !! Aromatically left bank with pencil shavings and cedar. Lovely sweet fruit a wine that grabs your attention from the very first whiff and keeps you spellbound to the very last drop. A stunning example of the Pomerol 1998 vintage.

December 15, 2018 - During the year end Gala Dinner of the Commanderie de Bordeaux Hong Kong with Domaines Rothschild CEO Jean-Guillaume Prats present as guest host. From Magnum. Expressive nose of blue fruit, sweet spices, cake, vanilla. Fantastic tertiary aromas here, complex. Medium bodied, elegant palate with polished tannins. Grand Pomerol.
