March 23, 2024 - 4th Saturday Brown Bagger (J&L's): Surprisingly the first of our six to be opened, double decanted off its sediment 3.5 hours before dinner. Lovely perfume note with incense, black currant and kirsch underneath. Balanced, with flavors of black fruit and dried herbs, with a touch of spice in the finish. Excellent- need to pull another bottle soon, though there is certainly no need to rush through these. 92-93 pts.
August 6, 2022 - Such a delight to enjoy this twelve-year old Santa Clara Valley Cabernet. Luscious and melts into your tongue with mellow, sweet red fruit. Harmonious, balanced and great with the pan-seared steak. Will be fine for several more years.
May 31, 2021 - still drinking very well
March 26, 2019 - I always confuse my vintages of this wine! This one is superb. Rich, luscious, and structured. Still has several years left I'm sure.
April 21, 2018 - This was drinking nicely today. Pnp it was ready really right out of the gate, nice balancing act of blueberries, acidity, a bit o milk chocolate, with just a tad of tangible oak. On a medium elegant frame, this gained acidity and structure at around the 2hr mark whenit tasted more. stefania like. Ready and pleasant now but has the suff to age 5-7 years more. Quite a bit of sediment at the end.
March 23, 2014 - Aroma of blackberry, leather and some funkiness. Taste was heavy on the blackberry, and a bit too ripe & sweet for me. Also had some chocolate taste underneath that fruit that did help it out some. Enjoyable, but the fruit was a bit too much to warrant more points.
January 8, 2014 - Deeelicious again. Rich and ripe but has so much structure, no flab, and nothing harsh.
September 5, 2013 - Stephania
Crimson Clover Cab
Santa Clara 2010
Needs 5 years.
But still decent.
Started at 90, then openned up in glass.
92
June 30, 2013 - Lovely wine. Throwing quite a bit of sediment!
April 20, 2013 - Popped and poured one night and finished the last bit the next night. Aroma has blackberry and some cocoa. Taste has a heavy does of blackberry, almost too sweet. Not hardly tannic, and really drinking quite well. I'd like to see the fruit ease up a bit and bring some secondary flavors, though.
