February 22, 2021 - Amazing freshness and fruit - if you can access a well-stored bottle, this is a great example of aged Napa

December 15, 2018 - Quite nice. Shows some age and maturity, but quite vibrant. Lots of cigar box and smoky notes with a bit of fruit. On the palate, it shows a nice balance with black fruit, smoke, and an earthy quality. The California nature comes through. Fully mature, but not over-the-hill. Quite nice now and likely will hold for awhile.

May 27, 2018 - Nose: Nice nose of black cherry, cedar, burnt sugar and herbs. Opaque in the glass and purple/red in the light. Palate: Entry is still fairly bold with a ripe edge to the fruit. Red currant, rip cherries, and blackberry notes on entry followed by a melange of leather, dusty earth, eucalyptus, thyme and sage notes. Finish: Complete and showing its age. Dusty tannins, more red fruited notes and some herbs.

This is a classic expression of Oakville, and one of the reasons why it is a centerpiece of Napa Valley. The old style really shines here.

April 1, 2017 - Garnet, with definite browning at the edges. Mostly opaque. Pronounced sweet oaky aromas of red and black fruits, with complex nose. Definite mint-herbal aromas suggestive of the old Martha's Vineyards. Soft, supple, round, no tannin left, has aged extremely well. Still going strong seven hours later, when I had the last glass. A rare treat to taste an old cab that has aged this well.
