April 1, 2023 - A bit disappointed : the body, flavor and roughness were marred by the alcohol flavor. This is a bottle with 14.8% alcohol . That flavor stayed, despite decanting for hours. Had to work a bit to get passed this alcohol taste and focus on the berry. Did not really pair that well .
    I won’t buy this again

September 21, 2019 - Blood red. Decanted for 45 minutes. Smoky, cedar and plum nose. Tobacco, cedar, currants, plums, Blackberries and some licorice. Has developed into a more mellow, though still muscular wine.

June 9, 2018 - Big and bold like most Herold Cabernets. Decanted for 2 hours. Aromas of wild flowers and black fruit. Dark and bold, this bottle was as good as most cabs twice the price, including The 2010 Herold by Mark Herold white label.

December 2, 2017 - Nice nose, reminding me of the nutty scents in a Cayuse Syrah. Lot of fruit here, but I would not put it in the fruit bomb category. More acidity than is typical for a cab. Tannins not prevalent for a Napa cab. Some enjoyable aspects to this wine but not enough structure for my preference.

I have tried other Herold offerings which I enjoyed more.

November 19, 2017 - I’m no longer a Cab drinker but this was very solid and enjoyable. In fact, of all the wines enjoyed over the past week, this was my second favorite; topped only by a ‘14 Saxum Broken Stones.
