November 2, 2021 - A unique blend that is only released in special vintages. Clean bottle (win!). Red cherries mixed with dark berries, spice, perfumey florals. Medium light on the palate, but the wine is all about the intense focus on the fruit. Balanced, silky, seamless, gorgeous.

April 22, 2021 - Drank this after a 78' Chave Hermitage. The 98' Cathelin was better. Deep, dark, ripe, rich and exceptionally balanced. Really special stuff, still fairly primary at this stage with a long life ahead.

January 31, 2020 - Bottle 1045/2500. Slow oxed at 12pm and served at 9pm. Drop dead gorgeous on the nose with spice, violets, purple flowers, perfume and lavendar. Palate was ethereal and weightless like what you expect from a Catheleen. It was really intriguing and complex which pushed you to revisit it relentlessly. Drinking beautifully in its youthful window.

November 17, 2018 - From Paris with Love, 2018 Edition; 11/16/2018-11/18/2018 (Paris (Girafe, La Tour D'Argent & Epicure)): Decanted and served blind.
We both went straight for Syrah from Rhone, but debated as to what could be and in the end went with Ogier Belle Helene from late 90s but not a superb ripe vintage so maybe 97 or 99. The wine had a homogeneity of fruit, a balance and a focuss that to us spelled monocepage and very rigorous selection of fruit. The harmony here we will remember for a longtime.
The wine itself when revealed sends you to a star gazing mode much like a romanee conti would.
Soft and very silky, super fine and elegant and very well mannered for a 98 , soft on the alcohol (13%!) , superbly elegant. Young and easily needs a good 10 yrs to sing at its best when it would pretty much be a perfect wine no doubt about it. Lacked a more expressive nose at this stage but the palate was just to die for. We rate wrt how the wine feels at time of tasting so we will do 96 but really with time this will be a perfect wine.

March 23, 2018 - Dinner with Jean-Louis Chave (Gwen - Loa Angeles CA): A fascinating contrast with the Chave 98 Hermitage in the next glass. To some extent, this had "more" of all the good elements in the wine wine- ripe black fruit, spice, power and density, but also didn't seem as perfectly harmonious and seamlessly integrated. So I think this is slightly better, but not clearly or in every way.
