October 20, 2014 - An absolute winner at dinner in a tricky context: tropical night by the ocean, orders ranging from sashimi, to hapu, to lobster pad thai, and a good friend in the mood for 'a nice thick red -- definitely not pinot' ;). A warm and satisfying bouquet leads to a versatile, nicely dense red that seemed to have just the right amounts of everything without being too much overall. And at a decent price point too.

October 18, 2013 - Has the zin warmth and heat of the pepper but lack the complexity desired. Very good wine but not as full and round as prisoner

October 13, 2013 - Gave an afternoon of air in the decanter. Nose is a heady mix of sweet ripe berries, vanilla, smokey caramel, slight damp earthiness and spicy wood. More than one might expect from a Zin blend. On the palate there is a broad darkness of tarry cocoa richness and sturdy tannin balance. A thick mouthful of new age syrupy fruit, candied apple, light espresso and singing high notes echo in the mouth on through a lingering finish. PJG:91

May 30, 2013 - Drank over 2 days. Was still good on Day 2. Wonderful nose & fruit tastes.

March 23, 2013 - Nose is very jammy like a traditional zinfandel but there is some oiliness that reminds me of a Syrah. Fruit in the beginning that fades - not an overly long finish. Lots of heat that detracts from the fruit flavor followed by very light tannins.
