July 27, 2023 - Initially smells like a Bordeaux but on closer inspection some clear differences. With this, the fruit (blackcurrant) comes first and then the graphite or cedar 2nd. Some Eucalyptus and methol notes on the nose also mixed with some spice. Matching the colour, this tastes quite fresh on the palate. A couple of hours in the decanter helped this a lot for my preference. After a couple of hours, more tertiary flavours including leather. On the finish, again some spice with cinnamon and star anise. Still tannic but of a fantastic velvety quality with medium+ acid. This was very good but if you asked me whether I preferred this or the younger Diamond Creek's I've had, I'd say the latter. Will need to drink more Diamond Creek's to draw a conclusion on what this means.

March 24, 2023 - Beat the '91 Heitz: Thought this was the ringer Bordeaux. Presented itself like a pedigreed right bank with tremendous elegance and restrained, dark red fruit. I think I enjoyed this because this had the most acid out of the wines tonight. A very complete and classically proportioned Cab in just the right spot for drinking. 1/8.

January 18, 2023 - Slightly faded dried red fruits with an earthy appeal. Good, but not outstanding

I guessed Togni 97, Beautiful young still primary notes driven californian cab, more Bx style, elegant, not loud. 96 -

August 23, 2019 - We opened this bottle on a Friday night with guests. The cork split but I was able to retrieve the bottom half without too much cork getting into the juice and was relieved to see some pressure still upon the removal of the remaining half of the cork.. The nose revealed an abundance of dark fruit. What I tasted was that dark fruit with some graphite, vanilla and spice.
I, like other Diamond Creek enthusiasts have seen the beautiful 1999 Volcanic Hill vintage nosedive over the past 6 months. Regarding the 1999 Red Rock Terrace...I highly recommend consumption in the near future as some cloudiness protruded into the glass on this pour. I have 2 more in the cellar and they are at the top of the "drink now" list.
