July 20, 2022 - Surprised me. Very fresh and great bottle. Beautifully mature with secondary profiles oozing. Drinking very well but I would drink up.
July 20, 2022 - But fuzzy all around with sousbois aromatics. Good color but slight cloudiness and modest length.
April 27, 2021 - Batard George - Fresh and clean with beautiful acidity. rarely a mugnier i like that'd not all dark and deep. Great bottle.
March 9, 2017 - Zachys La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, late night, brief note. Good density with both black and red fruit. Ripe but well balanced, but slightly less textural elegant than my favorite Freddy wines. No hurry to drink this soon.
August 28, 2016 - Mugnier's 1990 Bonnes Mares is aging gracefully. A bouquet of red and black fruit, woodsmoke, dried herbs, venison and dark soil tones is followed by a wine of notable power, volume and savoury intensity on the palate, with some fine structuring tannins in evidence and nice chalky minerality. Blind, the wine's sauvage qualities and its power allied with tension led me to Ruchottes-Chambertin, and to the 1993 vintage as 1990 torrefaction isn't an issue here.
September 11, 2015 - Keith's Blind Challenge 2015 (The Medlar, London): Blind. Quite fine. Dusty feel to the nose. Floral but very mineral . Classic iron fist etc. very mineral and structured. Serious wine but it does need time. Bonnes Mares? 90 apparently. ***(*1/2?)
November 12, 2013 - This was a great wine. Very well balanced. Still good fruit. Long finish.
November 9, 2013 - In prime drinking window. Fabulous nose of flowers, mushrooms and earth. Medium to full body, good texture, nice balance of power, fruit and secondary flavors. Nice example of 1990 burgundy. Ready to drink now but not in danger of fading any time soon.
June 26, 2013 - Very dark. I would have never guessed that this wine was made by Freddy..What a change in style now. Sous bois, huge tannins and structure, Almost barolo like.
