April 19, 2015 - Bura 2011 is one of the best Buras I have ever tasted, and I have tasted a lot of them! From 2004 until now I regularly buy 12 bottles of Bura every year. 2011 has 16.6 % alcohol and perhaps 6 or 7 grams of residual sugar. That classifies 2011 as semi dry wine. Bura 2011 is even better than 2008 which was fantastic vintage all around for Plavac Mali in Dalmatia. 2011 is thick syrupy dense wine
On the nose 2011 predominantly shows plum and peach marmalade. Following are fig, carob and almonds.
In the mouth prunes, raisins and blueberry marmalade with load of soft and well matured tannins, a lot of them. Hot and seductive but always indeed, nicely balanced. This is what I call a wine for meditation. Needs no food, no companion…nothing. Just you and your glass! The best Dingach and Plavac Mali and very very reasonably priced in comparison with some other neighbors.
