February 3, 2020 - I've had this wine several times and many times along with the '91, which I generally preferred...however, not this time. This blew the '91 out of the park...( it was not a good bottle). Medium color..Big tertiary notes of asian spice, sous bois. Very will balance, with softness on the palate and nice sweetness in the finish.

January 31, 2020 - A very nice bottle (as it should be) that I liked. Others at the table loved it.

January 31, 2020 - DRC in AZ - Tucson Comes to Scottsdale: Served blind. Well, you know it's an insane lineup when a '90 DRC isn't the clear favorite. This was a solid performance, but I'd be lying if I said I picked it out as a cut above the other wines in the flight. I am sad I didn't have hours to really contemplate this wine.

  • Alex G. Does not like this wine:

December 20, 2019 - Holiday Burgundy Lunch (Scottsdale, AZ): Ugh. One taster said VA, and to me it smelled like dirty diapers. Just awful, and didn't blow off one bit with time in the glass.

This bottle had been purchased on release and stored underground. Sometimes you do everything right, and the wine is still FUBAR.

December 14, 2019 - DRC vs Leroy Dinner (Kheam Hock Road): Good, but not quite as good as the Leroy from the same vintage that we drank alongside. This had such a nice nose - earth, meat, a touch of crushed violets, dark cherries, and a lovely lift of spice. Lovely. The palate was very nice too, with a round mouthful of blueberries, dark cherries and a beautiful midpalate of Vosne spice and little licks of minerality, all pulling away into a long, powerful finish. Perhaps a bit sterner than the Leroy. There was just a chew of tannins and kumquat peel at the end, a bit clenched, but otherwise, this was a powerful, compelling wine. Lovely without being mindblowing, and starting to drink well now.
