  June 17, 2023 - Pop and pour. Well-structured Pommard with lots of herbs, light earth and leaves, some ripe fruit left. Delicious.

  April 23, 2023 - Un Pommard des plus élégants, avec un peu plus de tension que de tannins, d’une finesse que je ne connaissais pas sur cette commune. Un peu de lies au fond donc à servir délicatement si non décanté. Vraiment impressionnant. Au début je dirais qu’il remporte la palme sur le de Montille mais ce dernier s’avère un peu plus complexe et tient davantage la route à l’aération, en particulier le 2e soir. Excellent.

  March 20, 2023 - Clos des Epeneaux survey (Chicago, IL): Hands down the lightest wine on the table tonight. The nose doesn't show very much green, but there is a modest herbal tinge overall here. On the palate though, this is clearly a product of the vintage -- so light and lacking the weight of the other wines on the table tonight. There's pretty red fruit, but with air and time, more of the green notes show up. Not bad for a 2011, but verticals be damned, I'm totally ok letting this one slide.

  February 19, 2023 - Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru Les Grands Épenots 2010 vs. Comte Armand Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux 2011: Popped and then soft recorked at noon, first glass poured after 4 hours. Started out with an intense fruit concentration with redberries, blackberries and (over)ripe cheery, but no real acidity to keep things together. Disappointing for the first 30 minutes in the glass and then the condensed fruit becomes gentler and the acidity and structure of the wine start appearing from the mist. In the end a nice glass of Pommard, not typical, but enjoyable. Maybe needs more cellar time? I think this 2011 is not comparable with the later vintages (2014 and forward) where Paul Zinetti took fully over the winemaking. He set a different style. This 2011 at this point of time: 92-94P

  February 9, 2023 - Nose has turned sweet, floral, red cherry. Palate is red cherries, tannins a little rough. Some minerality.
