June 16, 2023 - Classic Sarah now. Burst of ripe dark fruit followed by tar and anise briefly before the sweet bacon fat ending.

Lovely wine . Probably has 10 years left, but won't get better, just different.

August 18, 2022 - Deep rich sensuous wine. Agree with SOUTHERNSTATEOFMIND and SPENCEP's latest review. A glorious imbibe. Hail to wine that gets better with age!

April 21, 2022 - Leather with long finish. Tartness but balanced. Like a very fresh strawberry but without the sweetness.

August 15, 2021 - Completely agree with what SPENCEP recently wrote. From magnum, PnP but stayed consistent for the couple hours that we enjoyed it with grilled ribeyes. Really, really nice wine, great balance, no idea of longevity, but it's singing in 2021.

April 25, 2021 - If you've been patient with this wine, now is the time for you to be rewarded, because it is--finally!--fully awake. Rich, intense, and creamy. Plums, blackberries, citrus, tar, fennel, grilled meat, spices and minerals, a touch of coffee, and (after about 30 minutes in the glass) a long, long, and gorgeous (and especially minerally--almost seawatery) aftertaste. At last, this is everything it has been promising to be for so long. No hurry--this should continue to be a pleasure for another five years and possibly longer.

December 23, 2020 - Returned to this wine after 8 months-- see 4/24/2020. Gorgeous on the nose, but not as vividly present in the mouth, so my guess continues to be that this is near but not yet at its peak. Blueberries, raspberries, plums, spices, coffee, smoke, and a touch of licorice. No hurry on this one.

August 7, 2020 - Dark red fruit, with a cedary spicy edge. Some depth and smidge of complexity, but overall pretty straight forward. very fresh and showing no signs of decline.

June 21, 2020 - Drank from a 1.5 liter bottle. Still firmly in its maturity phase this is still purple with ruby edges. The nose is all savory herbs and meat enveloped by dark fruits. The body has bone marrow and iodine tinged to a wonderful balanced dark fruit finish with acid and partially resolved tannins leading to a long finish. This wine only got better over the years. I really did not like the 2012 so I am interested to see how it has evolved. But the 2011 is great!

April 24, 2020 - Near but not yet quite at its peak. Cherries, complex herbs and spices, coffee, maybe a hint of licorice, and a beautiful, extremely long and vivid, and constantly changing, aftertaste. This is already a wonderful wine, and will probably be even better something like a year from now. [I used Coravin on the bottle and tasted the remainder two nights later. This time it seemed to be fully at its peak (the change may have been in me, in the serving temperature--probably very slightly cooler this time--, or in some small contact with air in spite of Coravin). Blackberries, cherries, minerals, herbs, spices, and an incredibly long mineral and licorice aftertaste. Steak and cocoa enter the aftertaste after a very very long time. I'm tempted to raise the score to 96 points, but am leaving it as is. I'll try to taste another bottle in the next month or so to get a clearer idea of what's going on with this wine.]
