January 22, 2020 - Echezeaux Extravaganza: Henri Jayer and DRC 1976-2007 (La Grenouille, New York): The DRC 90 vs 89 comparison reminds me of the Bordeaux 90 vs 89 vintage comparison. The 89 DRC is a bit more intense and structured than the 90. Great depth but could use slightly more length compared to the 90. Signature smokey nose.

December 12, 2018 - Wonderful wine and first DRC. Similar to other notes with the slightly stewed nose and red fruit. Very soft on the mouth and smooth finish. I did think that the wine was a little past its' peak, but that might just be the vintage.

May 25, 2017 - Opened at Helene Darroze at the Connaught, P&P.

Absolutely stunning bouquet of red fruit - a strawberry explosion even. Everything was perfectly integrated but definitely still had some backbone despite the age. Went down so smmothly, it was just a joy to drink.

Too many good burgundies are butchered these days through infanticide, I'm very glad that I managed to enjoy this bottle at a very good point in its life.

April 20, 2017 - Subtlle Vosne spice on the nose with slightly stewed, but not unpleasant red fruit. Incredibly soft in the mouth with a good finish. Speaks to the vintage. Drinking well now and should hold fore several years with limited upside for me.

December 30, 2016 - Full blown DRC nose, pretty red fruit, earthy, underlined spice, balanced acidity with super long finish. This bottle was excellent.

January 29, 2016 - Barolo and Burgundy dinner - 79 Cristal, 89 & 93 DRC Ech, 05 RSV, 10 Rousseau CdB and etc. (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): Surprisingly big scale for a DRC Echezeaux. Slightly stewed intense red fruits, tomato, cherry, strawberry rhubarb pie, a hint of Asian spice, sautéed mushroom and earth. Excellent concentration, beautifully layered fruits, dense sweet and sour stewed red fruit driven palate impression, strong earthy impression, bright acidity, nicely integrated tannins and lovely long finish. Really interesting to compare with the 93 as this was the bigger wine with more concentrated and layered fruits where the 93 displayed the intoxicating pure 93 nose that we all love. Both were really enjoyable but I preferred the 93 slightly for the nose.

January 16, 2016 - This is fasinating stuff ! Still possible to store in a cool cellar, but is now mature and a wonderfull good wine, pepper, raw meat, mushrooms, barns, several layers of flavors, rich and complex, one of the most expensive and best wines i have ever tasted, purchased over 20 years ago

January 11, 2014 - Opened about 90 minutes before dinner and then enjoyed during the course of a 3 hour dinner. Overall, a great wine with good balance and complexity. On the nose, getting black currant, earth and truffles. The palate, however, gravitates towards rasberry and other red fruits with solid acidity. Really enjoyed this wine.

May 5, 2012 - Dinner at Laurent, Paris. Opened 4 hours prior to drinking. Wow, this is a big wine. Very primary on the nose and palate, but with nice grip and complexity. Bright red fruits and acidity with a lingering finish. This appeared very young and I believe will be better integrated with more time. Still, a wonderful wine.
