July 2, 2019 - This is a clear step up from last bottle. Ripe, wild strawberries and a touch of fresh mushrooms on the nose, more strawberries and lingonberries on the palate. Very fresh but super silky at the same time. Very good lenght. Just beautiful!

April 26, 2019 - Bize is not known for making fruitbombs and this is no exception to that rule. Displays a mature nose of sous bois, tobacco leaf, light coffe and just hints of decaing fruit. On the palate silky with quite a lot of herbal notes but also some soft sweetness and fairly well balanced. Perhaps a bit thin on the midpalate and somewhat short but enjoyable with good complexity. But it does feel like it's time to drink up over the next 2-3 years.

March 8, 2019 - I liked this especially because it tastes exactly like a Bize Vergelesses in a ripe year should. Ripe, concentrated medium weight black fruit, strongly noticeable but well-integrated stem character, a nice earthy quality, tannins mostly in check but with a hint of Savigny austerity/rusticity on the back end. Drinking very well now but could easily take further aging.

December 17, 2018 - Strawberry fruit with some earth aspects, rather fullish body without the depth or concentration that implies; moderate acidity. Suffers from the 2002 simplicity; I don't think this will go where the marvelous 1993 went, but there is still some room for improvement here. A good Monday night wine with chicken breasts.

I miss Patrick Bize, always one of my favorite visits.

    Cellared since original release.

August 3, 2018 - A terrific little fully mature Burg. A bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, sous bois, mushrooms and wet, peaty soil. A little Savigny-lès-Beaune funk (as a positive attribute). In the mouth, pure, clean and packed full of fully ripe fruit. Earthy, herby and a little gamey. Black cherries and dark berries. Savoury and secondary. Fresh and precise with lovely acidity. For drinking in the next few years.
