  February 19, 2016 - Dark and full Went well with cheese and raspberries. A bit closed in but delicious. Just didn't measure up to a 2002 Chrysalis PV it was paired with. Will get better

  September 1, 2014 - I am a Bordeaux freak and hard to impress, but this is a very nice wine! Full bodied and balanced, has a good depth of black fruit -- a strong chocolatey element and some leather, a little reminiscent of right bank Bordeaux. Tannins just a little rough at the end but not in a way that really detracts. I guess you could gain in complexity and soften the tannins by aging it further, but you wouldn't want to lose fruit, and this is in a nice place now. It isn't easy to ripen petit verdot fully, so I didn't have high expectations for a Virginia petit verdot but ended up quite impressed. No feel of excessive manipulation to create this depth, just solid and balanced. (BTW, bought on a suggestion from a wine clerk at Vinosity in Culpepper, VA who really knew her stuff -- good store!).
