February 24, 2023 - Prior bottle was one year ago and this wine remains in a very good spot. Black raspberry, black cherry and spice notes on the nose. Between medium and full bodied with black cherry upfront, continuing to show a mix of brighter notes, coupled with rounded and more open notes. Mid-body adds slightly darker black cherry as well as black raspberry in a well-balanced presentation. The mid-body has retained much of its elegance with tart red and black cherry behind providing the contrast and and spices, acidity and fine grained tannins, the structure. The fruit continues to show good expression with solid support, but based on these consistent notes and the overall sense of this wine, I would drink it over the next year to enjoy it at it current, high level.

February 13, 2022 - Black raspberry, blackberry and black cherry on the quite aromatic nose. Just above medium bodied with black cherry upfront, showing a good mix of rounded, more open notes and slightly brighter, more lively qualities. Mid-body adds black raspberry, but in a balanced and almost seamless fashion. It's got very good depth and feels open and expressive. The contrast provided by the tart black cherry notes, acidity and light spices on the back tied everything together. Highpoints of this wine were the overall balance between fruit and structure and how elegantly the fruit was presented (rather than just raw, in-your-face power). In a great drinking window and should be able to hold this peak for at least the next 12-18 months.

June 29, 2020 - This made me feel better about my Paul Lato stash of 2011s. Elegant balance from the moment the bottle was opened and only got better as the bottle's contents went down. I have had so many 2011s that landed flat that I was beginning to feel like there was something awry across the vintage. Apparently not.

September 21, 2019 - Focused aromatics. Furniture polish, red fruits and skins, buttered toast. Very much my style.

November 22, 2018 - Holding strong. Bright ruby red, beautiful nose with all-spice/clove hints and orange citrus. Somewhat soft palate, easy drinking with persistent spice notes. Paired quite well with multiple dishes on Thanksgiving day. Very good SB pinot.
