October 13, 2023 - Deep red. Nose subtle, like a Petite Syrah on Marijuana. Smooth, black fruits. Taste very mellow with black fruits. Good.

July 22, 2023 - Last tasted five years ago with very similar notes. Still tannic when opened but over the course of the meal, the wine kept improving and the finish was very smooth and long. Deep color, blackberries, blueberries, and hints of earthiness and nuttiness in the nose. Big, rich concentrated fruit in the flavor with lots of black fruits and hints of chocolate. A very well balanced wine performing at a high level with no sign of decline. The pros gave this decent reviews but missed the mark on where it would be twenty years out. Great mouthfeel and nice complexity, a perfect pairing with Prime Rib. Drink now or over the next five years. 94-95

July 11, 2023 - Enjoyable, mellowed petite syrah. Hint of sweetness persists. Has more time.

June 23, 2022 - One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Fine sediment in both the screen and the dredges of the bottle. Powerful boysenberry aromas spread over the table during decant. After resting: the wine was clear; dark purple in the bowl lightening ever so slightly to garnet on the rim with a clear halo. No bricking whatsoever. Wine did not appear to be 18+ years old. The nose gave off a lovely mixture of blackberry, sweetened plums, violets and tobacco. In the mouth: fruit was exceptionally deep with perfect balance: fruit, acid and structure were perfectly meshed. Long finish of blackberry preserves and a touch of vanilla and citrus. All the diners at the table (as well as the staff members with whom we shared it) were awestruck by the power and deliciousness of this wine, which stood up to some powerful smoked and sauced meat dishes. Sad that I only have one more.
