September 23, 2021 - Sjaak's 40th birthday dinner (Groot-Ammers, Netherlands): Crushed red fruit, still retains a certain sweetness and ripe tannic grip, spicy oak, needs some oxygen to open up, slightly cool and attenuated finish.

August 12, 2016 - OK, I am not going to criticize 35-year old Mondavi CAB....what a beautiful treat! Dark leather, perhaps even a bit musty. Floral but not overwhelming. Juicy but slightly acidic. Very smooth. A delightful experience that was perfect at the finish.

May 27, 2016 - Sourced from winebid several months ago, so not sure of provenance but this turned out good. Nose of leather, some dried red fruit, turned earth. The flavors seemed to come and go over the 2 hrs we had this, but overall it was a pleasant, aged CA cab experience featuring mostly tertiary flavors of mushroom, leather, dust and dried red berry. Tannins are completely resolved and this had enough acid to carry the wine and keep it interesting.

December 20, 2015 - Ruby, surprisingly youthful color. Leather, tobacco, cinnamon, and iron are some of the secondary and tertiary aromas that leap from the glass. Surprisingly aromatic and open, this is an interesting example of Old Napa, even if it is a little tired and lacking in primary fruit.

July 30, 2014 - Brought to a restaurant dinner with no formal notes other than it was outstanding and a good expression of a classic aged Mondavi Cab.
