December 22, 2023 - Corked
November 5, 2023 - opaque garnet to brick
Sediment in the bottle, tannin mostly, decant carefully
cooked red fruit, cedar, graphite nose
Medium plus alcohol
medium plus acid
cooled sour cherry, cedar palate
ripe, fine tannin
A little past peak, almost old world feeling expression, still holding up but drink now.
March 14, 2022 - Over the hill.
December 29, 2021 - Solid, but for whatever reason, not as good or interesting as when I last tasted in 2019.
September 20, 2019 - A bit confusing. I drank this a month ago and got a different impression. This time around while the wine is big, and jammy at some level it kind of works and there are some good things going on. Blackberry jam, smoked meats, spices and minerals. Big boned, showing some complexity, can age for a number of years more.
September 10, 2019 - Decant 30 mins. This wine felt very overdone. The nose is blackberry jam and herbs. The palate is very heavy and jammy with black berry, prunes, tobacco and herbs coming through. Massive but somewhat disjointed structure.
September 2, 2019 - Tannins present but not obtrusive. Not obviously a Zinfandel to me, but no complaints about that. 15.2% alcohol nicely integrated for a Zin. This went well with BLT sandwiches one day and dry-rub pork ribs another.
May 14, 2019 - Briary red fruit and spice. Tasty.
November 12, 2018 - Good but not quite I expect from RR. More cab notes than zin.
October 31, 2018 - Nice cranberry and vanilla nose with blue fruit, slate, pepper and tannic notes leading to a drying finish.
