  January 8, 2011 - Decanted this, and checked in on it over the course of 2-3 hours. It was best between about 2 and 2 1/2 hours. Started out with a youngish nose with some cedar notes, with sweet, primary berry fruit in the mouth, and it plumped even more with air at first - I worried this particular bottle was a bit prematurely old. But then, around two hours, it dried out significantly, which is when it became a really nice wine. The cedar from the nose added a minty note, and then pipe tobacco and leather also arrived on the finish.

  May 12, 2003 - Tasted at the Denver offline with WIML on 5/12/03.
  
  Served double blind with the main dishes. The main dishes were grilled Portabella mushroom caps marinated in truffle oil and balsamic vinegar, and Bistecca ala Fiorentina with grilled vegetables and roasted garlic and white truffle oil mashed potatoes.
  
  This wine was decanted for 2-2-1/2 hours before tasting (I know, because I brought it). This wine remains very youthful, but aged nuances have appeared. Leather and cedar are very prominent on the nose, some thought with a hint of barnyard. Others mentioned allspice and chocolate or cocoa on the nose. Layers of black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, leather and spices, leading into a long finish where strawberry chimes in. This wine was showing fantastic, and is at or near peak. However, no real hurry to drink it up, the depth of flavors should last a few more years. I had this with the Bistecca ala Fiorentina, and the match was exquisite. One of my red wines of the night.
