June 15, 2022 - Brought this to Tunglok's Lao Beijing for dinner with 2 of my ex-colleagues. We used to work closely in the same team. We had the spring rolls, Peking duck, roasted lamb, long beans, fried rice and mango sago.

Decanted for an hour before consumption. Dark purple in colour with notes of ink, dark rich plums, blackberries, hints of black spices, cloves, dried herbs, with a fleshy body and well defined structure.

What was impressive about this wine is that it doesn't flatter to deceive: a solid red that delivers fragrance on the nose, power on the palate and silky smoothness in the finish.

    Drinking wonderfully, deliciously now.

June 10, 2022 - Dinner at Restaurant Guy Savoy (Las Vegas, NV): Pégau's 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée is a deep red/garnet, Grenache-dominant blend that offers a nice core of raspberry and dark plum fruit that is accented with Provençal herbs, black pepper, licorice, tobacco and baking spices. Full-bodied, freshly acidic, softly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14%), it is impressively dense on the mid-palate, has plentiful silky-textured tannins and a penetrating, lengthy finish. Purchased from a fine dining establishment's wine list, this was uncorked and gently poured directly from the bottle 1-3 hours thereafter. Give it an hour or two of air if possible. Drink now-2030.

June 6, 2022 - Another excellent bottle of Pegau. I'm no expert on it, but not the best I've had, but even if it doesn't compete with the highs I've had with this Domaine it just delivers (again). Improved on day 2.

Dark garnet. Nose is meaty with very savory minerality, oregano and thyme. Very nice texture, good weight, juicy and bursting into the finish with grilled sausauge, white pepper and juicy dark red plum.

Update: even more delicous on night 2. Getting more of the Syrah in it.

May 10, 2022 - My last two bottles in 2018 and 2019 I scored 94 points. This last bottle bested both by a point as the extra cellar time brought out some extra appeal. It has been awhile that we’ve shared a nice bottle after we both had Covid in mid-April. Fully vaccinated and boosted but it still sucks and messes up your sinuses such that wine is not desirable.
Decanted this for a couple of hours but that old world Pegau funk was evident on pouring into the decanter. Wonderful nose of dried cherries and iron notes. Smooth silky tannins that give way to a long satisfying finish. Brilliant wine in every dimension. No more 2012’s in the cellar but a mixed case of other vintages to look forward to. Cheers!
