November 25, 2022 - Had with Thanksgiving dinner 2022. Was perfect. Big and bold for a pinot noir, more in the style of Meiomi than a red Burgundy. Not too dry or tannic and not too fruity either. A really well balanced palette and nose. Would have it again.
October 30, 2020 - Very good but decant for one hour. Started out slow but got good quick
June 24, 2020 - There is something about Russian River Pinot that we find really appealing at this house!
January 20, 2020 - These wines in the value range for Paul Hobbs so entirely outperform their price point!
February 8, 2019 - PnP, but opened during the meal, so give it some air. Aromas of red fruits and a touch of cola. The medium plus bodied palate showed red fruits, dark red fruits and berries, then a dose of spice and pepper on the medium plus finish. Nicely juicy acidity to keep the wine lively, and well integrated tannins. Should hold for a couple of years.
Had alongside a Kosta Browne Russian River Valley 2010: This wine showed livelier, and a bit fruitier, while the KB was more savoury, with a heavier mouthfeel. L preferred this Hobbs, I preferred the KB.
January 6, 2019 - A gorgeous, fruity, rich, Pinot Noir. Cherrys, spice, and very silky. I need to get more!!
August 1, 2018 - Rich, dark berry and plum, spice and mocha flavor it’s ample fine tannins.
December 17, 2017 - Disappointing, as I expected a lot from this wine. Appearance was a bit cloudy. Aroma and flavors muted, with nothing distinctive. Perhaps held too long.
December 11, 2017 - Rich cherry and red raspberry fruit, then a bunch of cola and allspice. Finished with some pronounced, but not unpleasant, oak. Big and bold is not generally my favorite Pinot style, but I liked this.
5/14/2018 Didn't get as much of the oak this time, but otherwise similar.
December 9, 2017 - In the perfect place with fresh/cool with iron rich minerality. Nonetheless still some syrupy raspberry and chalky vanilla as expected. Drink in the next 2-3 years.
